Margarita Ovalle Vergara (Chile) is a psychologist from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and holds a master’s degree in Phenomenology and Existentialism from the University of Tennessee (United States). She has worked as a clinical psychologist since 1995, and has also published and lectured extensively on comparative mythology and analytical psychology. She is an honorary member of the International Association for Analytical Psychology (IAAP), and a member and coordinator of the Chilean Society for Analytical Psychology (SCPA), where she organizes meetings and directs roundtables affiliated with the Joseph Campbell Foundation.
Since 2016, she has served as director and lecturer of the postgraduate diploma program Comparative Mythology in the Light of Jungian Psychology. Her books include Intimidad y Multiverso (2008), Lo Extraordinario en lo Ordinario (2009), Chile Mitológico (2010), Mitos Comparados: Chile–Grecia (2011), Mitofísica (2014, co-written with Igor Saavedra Gatica), and Lo Mejor Posible: Conversaciones con Igor Saavedra (2022). She is also the author of the article “Soul, Myth and Cosmovision in a Changing World: Essentials of Analytical Psychology and the Descendent Path,” published in the Journal of Analytical Psychology, Vol. 68, Issue 2, pp. 210–226 (2023).
