Psychoanalyst, full member of the International Association for Analytical Psychology, and a training and supervising analyst with the Centro Italiano di Psicologia Analitica, she carries out clinical work in private practice in Lecce (Italy) and also teaches Sound Space Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bari (Italy). She holds an international PhD in Neuroscience from Sapienza University of Rome. Her research has focused on auditory perception and synaptic plasticity related to musical experience, using neuroimaging techniques.
She co-authored "Scritture della cura. Riflessioni intorno al caso clinico” (Bollati Boringhieri, 2023) with Augusto Romano. She is also the author of La lingua padre (Mimesis, 2020), and Il suono dell’assenza (Moretti & Vitali, 2018, with an overture by Emanuele Trevi), for which she received the Nabokov Prize for Nonfiction (2024).
She has written essays on psychoanalysis and philosophy in collective volumes and academic journals (e.g. Rivista di Psicologia Analitica, Atque, Quaderni di Cultura Junghiana, Psichiatria & Psicoterapia) and is the author of several scientific articles (e.g. World Futures, Neuroscience, Critical Hermeneutics, Mediascapes).
A graduate in Piano Performance, she combines her clinical work with the composition of electroacoustic music. Her works have been performed and awarded at international festivals under the alias Elena Ghigas.
